This service forwards real time media protocol (rtmp) streaming for Afrihost users to improve TCP latency when the last mile is congested or has variable quality.
If your last mile connection has variable quality for some reason (e.g. huge downloads), and the end-point is outside the country, forwarding your rtmp connection through this service can reduce drops, and improve your streaming experience as a producer.
If your last mile is amazing, or if you are not an Afrihost client, then it will likely do nothing useful for you. If you're not an Afrihost client, and you're using this, ask your ISP to set up a thing like this for you (it's really not hard). A proxy at your own ISP should work better, and besides that, we might pull the plug on this service at any time without notice, especially for non-Afrihost clients if we start to have performance problems problems.
If you want support for other streaming services, please contact us.
You can produce a RTMP stream with software like Open Broadcaster Software (OBS), Player.me, Streamlabs OBS, XSplit Broadcaster and OBS.Live
Here's a configuration example for Open Broadcaster forwarding to twitch.tv:
